Learn when to buy the KEF Reference 3 Meta Black Cloth Grille Pack, how it fits your speakers, and whether it's the right accessory for your setup.
Quick answer
The KEF Reference 3 Meta Black Cloth Grille Pack is the only official grille option for your Reference 3 Meta speakers. Buy it if you want to protect the drivers or change the look without affecting sound quality.
Why choose a cloth grille pack?
Cloth grilles shield the exposed drivers from dust, accidental knocks, and curious pets while maintaining acoustic transparency. The KEF Reference 3 Meta Black Cloth Grille Pack is designed specifically for the Reference 3 Meta speakers, so the fit is exact and the magnetic attachment is secure.
Trade-offs to consider
The grille pack is only available in black cloth. If you need a different color or material (e.g., for a light-colored room), this pack may not match your decor. Also, while the grille is acoustically transparent, some listeners prefer the uncovered look of the Reference 3 Meta’s driver array.
Decision rules
- Check your speaker model: The grille pack is made exclusively for the KEF Reference 3 Meta. It will not fit other KEF models, including other Reference series speakers or Q Meta series. Confirm your speaker is a Reference 3 Meta before ordering.
- Decide on color and material: This pack comes only in black cloth. If you need a different color or a metal grille, this is not the product for you. No other official grille options exist for the Reference 3 Meta.
- Evaluate protection vs. aesthetics: Use the grilles if you prioritize driver protection (e.g., in a high-traffic area or with children/pets). Skip them if you prefer the visible driver aesthetic and have a low-risk environment. Grilles are removable, so you can swap as needed.
- Consider the price and value: At USD 127.99 (compared to a catalog price of USD 199.99), the pack offers a genuine KEF accessory at a discount. It is a one-time cost that can extend the life of your speakers.
